Members may be interested in this event on the topic of manufacturing hosted by the British Library as part of its ‘Myths and Realities’ series of public debates.
It’s easy to assume that manufacturing is no longer important to the British economy. After all there has been a steady decline in the importance of the sector since the 1960s. Even so, it still accounts for at least one in 10 jobs and a significant proportion of exports. This debate will explore the evidence, making sense of the statistics and the issues.

I'd say that overlooking manufacturing is a huge mistake. You only have to look at Germany and the success of their Mittlestand to see that.
