Rio leads the show
Footballer Rio Ferdinand will be leading England in the World Cup this summer.
In today’s Guardian interview by journalist Stephen Moss he talks about how seriously he takes the captaincy role:
“There are different types of leaders. There’s the guy that shouts and screams, and the guy that leads by example. Tony Adams was a shouter; Bobby Moore led by example. They were two different types of captain, but both were successful.
“I do a bit of both. I lead by example, but when somebody needs to be told, I never shirk that responsibility.”
He says in the interview he is loud by nature and “I won’t be changing”. But when asked if he shuts up when Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is letting forth, he told Stephen Moss: “The manager’s the manager and his word is gospel.” bu he adds that a manager who doesn’t allow his players to have an opinion won’t be successful.
Do you agree with Rio? Are you a shouter like Tony or the quiet type like Bobby?

Sounds like a game in the making right there. It's an interesting question though. I can't remember ever working for a shouty boss, although to be honest sometimes it would be nice as it portrays the importance of the situation. Sometimes you really need to appreciate the urgency of things.
Maybe it's just me being nostalgic, but does anyone really think Ferdinand is fit to lace the boots of Bobby Moore?
