When asked about important issues facing Britain, the economy scored its highest every mark in an Ipsos MORI poll carried out between 7 and 13 May this year.
Seventy-one per cent of respondents put the economy top of the list, up 16 per cent on a poll taken the previous month.
Next on the list was race relations/immigration (38 per cent), education/schools (23 per cent), unemployment (22 per cent), the NHS (22 per cent), crime/law and order (20 per cent), defence/foreign affairs/terrorism (11 per cent), pensions/benefits/social security (10 per cent) and inflation/prices (9 per cent).
