What have the Archbishop of Canterbury, a boy who makes jam and the author of a book about getting more out of the public sector got in common?

Amazingly, the answer is they are all entrants in the eBook category of this year’s CMI Management Book of the year competition. And you can help our judges decide which one will win.

In total there 16 titles entered and the diversity of topics covered is striking.   As befitting an Archbishop, Rowan Williams has written on an ethical theme:  ‘Crisis and Recovery Ethics, Economics and Justice’ (coauthored with Larry Elliott the Economics Editor of The Guardian newspaper).  Fraser Doherty has written SuperBusiness:  How I Started SuperJam from My Gran's Kitchen, a very readable book on entrepreneurship, based on his experience of starting a jam-making business at the age of 14.  (Now his product is stocked by major international supermarkets.)  In contrast Bernard W Marr’s ‘More with less:  maximizing value in the public sector tackles one of the most pressing public policy issues of our times.  Or if that doesn’t interest you, you could read ‘Bad Apples’, Adrian Furnham’s advice on how to manage negative behaviour at work.

Please Vote!
The online vote on this category has gone live and we need as many votes as possible to  get a balanced result, so we would love you all to vote for the book you think should be the winner in this category.

Voting is simple – just go to www.managementbookoftheyear.org.uk and click on the link in the box at bottom right.

Sample chapters of all 16 entries are available from the E-Book page under Books Entered 2011/12 to give you a flavour of the books.

The vote will be open for the whole of September and the results will be passed to the category judges to help them in selecting a shortlist of 5 to be announced at the CMI National Conference on 20th October.
