The Cumbria Branch held a visit on 29th September 2010, Institute of Astronomy in Cambridge Dr. Robin Catchpole, Research Astronomer told an audience of around 400 in Forum 28, Barrow-in-Furness, that the idea of a telescope in space was first suggested in 1946.
