How do these figures compare with population figures for each of the regions Adi?

Yes Peter this was my thought exactly when I was looking at the figures. I strongly believe that these figures can be increased by marketing the institute to graduates as they leave university. This way the institute will be creating a foundation for the future increase of chartered managers.

The only way this can be achieved is if the institute creates events with recent graduates as the main focus. for example Leadership events built with the graduate in mind. By this I mean  creating events that takes into consideration young indviduals with little or no experience, and giving them the opportunity to network with chartered managers in the institute. This will definately motivate young people to join and also develop  enteprneurial qualities. This will be a good selling point especially now that there are alot of young people out of work.

Also it will be more effective to hold these events in the city centres that have universities. Looking at the events page, I  discovered that a couple of the events are held in country sides. For example in the West midlands, most events are held in conventry and warick instead of  main cities like Birmingham city centre and its immidiate environs.Except if graduates were not taken into consideration when these locations were chosen then it will be fine.

This startegy is something that is worth looking into as part of the process of strengthen the institutue's position in the business environment in which it operates.

Thanks for contributing Lucy.  I think there is a lot of sense there in offering younger managers the opportunity to learn from more senior managers.  That's certainly what I'd like to occur more often with these online forums, as they provide a great chance for younger managers (or indeed any manager) to get tips and advice from the CMI membership.

It would be very nice if the map recognised the fact that there is an Island off the West Coast situated between England and Ireland, up a bit from Wales and down a bit from Scotland? For information we have 5 CMgr's in a population of 80,000 people. It's called the Isle of Man!!

Well spotted Andrew.  I grew up on the Isle of Wight and we often have a similar issue.  I'll see if I can get it updated for you.

Are there up to date regional figures for CMgr?  Having just been awarded CMgr this week someone asked me what it was and how recognised it is.  I thought I would build the CMI and CMgr into some skills development work I'm doing for the wider business and I would like to understand current numbers and geographical spread - only on CMgr at this time.

Thanks
