The following is an article from the Al Ghad newspaper in Jordan in relation to Ziad El-Awad, finalist in the 2010 Chartered Manager of the Year competition.
Ziad El-Awad: A Jordanian Businessman with Overseas Ambitions
“I decided not to relate my ambitions to a place or identity, and not to be tied down to academic study only. My goal was to reach out to the world through my hard work.” Said Ziad, a Jordanian seeking excellence and finding it at the Chartered Managers Institute in the UK.
Ziad’s family business is specialized in importing and exporting food items and representing companies in China, Vietnam, and Thailand.
Ziad attained the “Chartered Manager” title after submitting his company’s case and how he led managed to pinpoint the main pitfalls in his company and designed a framework to address these pitfalls. Ziad worked on increasing the sales in his company by focusing on managing the quality of deliverables and accordingly putting high emphasis on customer satisfaction. By doing so, he managed to increase sales by 22% after applying the framework he created. According to Mr. Awad, "if containers are delivered in an excellent shape and in a timely manner, the customers are more satisfied, and the items are sold faster, which leads to the increase in number of orders".
Ziad was chosen as Chartered manager of the Year-overseas and is now competing to win the title of Chartered Manager of the Year-worldwide for the year 2010. Based on the number of votes he gets, and some other factors, Ziad can win this title.
