Trends in the use of swimming pools

I am looking at current trends of swimming pool usage in the UK and fitness suites. I have a problem in my current position with capacity management and a leisure centre that is extremely busy however our attrition is rising in the gym because of
the amount of members.

The Department for Culture, Media and Sport collect statistics in this area.

The Taking Part survey gives statistics on overall participation in sport and cycling and swimming proficiency, but not use of swimming pools as such.

But it might be worth contacting them direct to see if more detailed figures are available:

I would also check out the Institute of Qualified Lifeguards, whose new qualification for pool management is getting rave reviews within the industry.
