NVQ qualifications at 2, 3, 5 & 7 (QCF)

Our NVQ QCF (Qualifications Credit Framework) are new work-related, vocational qualifications that enable you to learn at your own pace in a way that suits you. They have been designed with the help of employers, which mean you're gaining the kind of skills that employers are looking for.

CMI have developed new QCF style qualifications to replace the current National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) at Levels 2, 3, 4 and 5 in Management and Leadership in line with market trends.

Like the existing NVQs, QCF qualifications are made up of Units based on National Occupational Standards (NOS). However, whereas NVQ Units are directly based on the NOS Units, QCF Units look very different, they can be performance units or knowledge units (whereas NVQ Units must contain both knowledge and performance) and they can be combined more flexibly than NVQs.

 

Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Team Leading (QCF) & Level 3 NVQ Certificate in Management (QCF)

These qualifications are designed for team leaders and managers, to support the development of their skills and competences in leading a team, making sure that the team’s work achieves organisational objectives, and contributing to planning, problem solving and decision making.

Typical units:

  • Manage personal development
  • Set objectives and provide support for team members
  • Lead and manage meetings
  • Develop, maintain and review personal networks
  • Review risk management processes in own area of responsibility
  • Recruit staff in own area of responsibility

 

Level 5 NVQ Diploma in Management (QCF) & Level 7 NVQ Diploma in Management (QCF)

These qualifications are designed for managers, to support the development of their leadership and management skills in personal development, leadership, management resources, information, performance, customer and market awareness.

Typical units:

  • Develop and evaluate operational plans for own area of responsibility
  • Establish risk management process for an organisation
  • Conduct a quality audit
  • Develop a strategic business plan
  • Promote knowledge management across own organisation
  • Outsource organisational processes

 

Progression

These qualifications provide opportunities for progression to other qualifications at higher levels, which could also be work-based or more academically structured. The qualifications also support learners in meeting requirements for work and/or employment within all areas of management and leadership at this level.
