WiM Scotland events
Launched in May 2007, WiM Scotland is now one of the most vibrant, progressive networks for women in Scotland. It brings together women, and men, from all walks of management life whether just beginning a management career, aspiring to a management role, or with many years of experience. WiM Scotland offers support, development opportunities and superb networking across the public, private, academic and voluntary sectors. We offer something different because the network is not confined to any one geographical area or business sector. Our events feature high-profile, keynote speakers alternating with focused, development opportunities designed to foster skills like networking, confidence in presenting, or coaching. WiM Scotland helps women develop and advance, and have fun too.
Hello. I'm Barbara Matheson, Chair of WiM Scotland.
Welcome to this forum. We held a very successful networking event last week in Glasgow and our next event is on April 22 in Stirling with
Fiona Logan, Chief Executive, Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park Authority

Although WiM events are run with women in mind we welcome men and women .
GETTING INVOLVED LOCALLY
WiM Scotland is in the process of resructure and expansion and are looking for volunteers for our locally based events management teams in Edinburgh, Stirling and Glasgow. These roles involve a wide range of activities from sourcing high profile speakers and workshop leaders to booking venues and helping out at the evening events with "meeting and greeting".

Hi Barbara,
I am currently volunteering with Aberdeenshire and the city branch but I have been to one of your events which I found excellent. Problem is since a lot of events are down south, it is a bit of travel down from Aberdeen. Once we get the Aberdeenshire and the city branch more active, would you want to create a small WiM team for the North of Scotland for the future?
I would volunteer to help for this area but at the moment, we are trying to get more interest from Aberdeenshire CMI members to participate in more events but I can try and see if any members would be interested?
Kind regards,
Emma
Me, me I'd be interested, Stirling is too far for me to travel and Edinburgh is ok at a push as I rely on public transport (boo hiss). A sub group in the North would be good if feasible.
I'd be willing to help too.
Thanks
Sam
Hi Emma and Samantha
That's great news. WiM Scotland would indeed be keen to establish a subgroup in the North/North East. We understand that it's difficult for people in the north to travel to events if they are routinely in the central belt so it has always been our intention to roll out events, to Dundee, Aberdeen, Inverness for example, if we could find volunteers interested in getting involved. As a next step if you could both like to drop me a note with your contact details to hilary@communicatethat.com we can chat about this by e-mail or phone.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Hilary

I would like to thank everybody who made it to our Glasgow event on Wednesday! It was a great night to meet up all together again, in that fabulous venue, and have some good time and some tips for personal development from our experts.
I was happy to see the new faces and I am looking forward to something similar in future events.
Our next big thing will be announced soon, in detail, however I can reveal to you that it will be in March and will take place in Edinburgh!
We will let you know more about it very soon.
For those who want to have an idea of our past event, they will be able to watch some pictures posted on our Facebook Page "Women in Management Network in Scotland".
Thank you,
