The Government allocated £5 million in the Spring 2017 budget to support returners and created new returner programmes in the public sector. This toolkit was produced to encourage private sector employers to develop similar initiatives.
Running a returner programme is a practical step employers can take to address the gender pay gap and increase. Returners can also bring new skills to an organisation and new ways of approaching challenges. It is hoped that the guidance offered here will encourage employers of all sizes and across all sectors to wake up to the talent that returners have to offer and that by harnessing their experience, we can address skills gaps, increase the number of women in senior positions, and make the most of existing talent.
