Join us for this event and find out more about the future of the Institute of Consulting (IC), with an explanation of the Chartered Management Consultant award and how this new award relates to the Certified Management Consultant (CMC) Award.

Under development is a new award –   the Chartered Management Consultant (ChMC). 

This work is led by IC/CMI and the MCA, the trade body whose membership comprises the large consultancy firms.  This award could be available from next year. 

What is it?  Why is it needed? Who is it for?

Ayres Fred

Dr Fred Ayres CMC CMgr FCMI MIC - A L Consulting

Fred trained as a chartered accountant before leaving the profession to follow a career in business. He has worked for large organisations including Tarmac, Ross Group, UNESCO and the Simons Group, as well as a number of smaller companies where he gained a wide range of experience in strategic leadership and organisational development. The development of people and organisations became and remains his main business interest.

He has a degree in psychology, an MBA, a PhD, and a Diploma in Business Coaching. He is currently a member of the Investors in People Practitioners’ Consultative Group.

Valerie Hamill

Valerie Hamill CMgr MCMI - Head of Secretariat

Company Secretary of the Institute since 2005, Valerie has actually worked for the Institute since 1990, having joined as Assistant Secretary. She qualified as a Chartered Secretary in 1991, having been supported by the Institute to complete her studies.

Valerie is responsible for the overarching governance and constitutional framework of the Institute, advising the Board, its Committees and the executive team on all governance issues, as well as managing the Board/Committee structure. This includes ensuring that all legal requirements of our status as a chartered and charitable body are fulfilled. She is supported in this work by two Committee Secretaries.

Valerie is also responsible for the CMI and IC Codes of Conduct and oversees the formal procedure for the investigation of complaints received relating to a member’s conduct.
