The majority of businesses are now service businesses, yet although many people are familiar with product design and development processes, few understand how these are applied to service. It has been established as a discipline relatively recently and there are now postgraduate degrees in Service Design, including at the RCA.

Manufacturing companies are also increasingly relying on services to differentiate. Both service and product based businesses need to find ways to separate themselves from their competition, as do consultants. We have heard recently how consultancy is becoming commoditised. This presentation will give you another perspective on how you might innovate or improve your services or those of your clients.

At this event you will hear about the key elements of service design, examples of effective use and then enjoy a hands-on session to try some of the methods for yourself.

It will be a fast and furious session, which should spark some good ideas that you can use in your consultancy, business or department.

Sally Brazier

Sally Brazier, an independent Business Consultant and Director of CEOSTRA Ltd., which works with the management of established SMEs to help them develop strategically. Their clients range from Accountants to Zoos.

Her background is in both business and design. Eighteen years’ experience assisting SMEs has given her considerable understanding of the importance of design in gaining competitive advantage. It has enabled her to develop the methods and tools that enable them to succeed.

A visiting lecturer on design management, she also delivers workshops for business - product and service, brand, workplace and website design.
