Karen Barr

Karen Barr

Karen Barr is an enthusiastic and committed learning and development professional, specialising in leadership and mindfulness. She is passionate about developing human potential and making a difference to individuals and organisations. Karen works with a variety of businesses, in both the public and private sector and experiences first-hand how the right mind-set, promoted by mindfulness, can change the culture of an organisation by developing wellbeing in individuals, allowing them to reduce stress, increase resilience, improve focus and develop stronger interpersonal relationships.
Karen has a BSc (Hons) Psychology and an MSc in Mindfulness from the University of Aberdeen. She received her mindfulness teaching certificate from the Mindfulness Association and delivers mindfulness programmes in accordance with the guidelines set out by the UK Network for Mindfulness-Based Teaching. Karen is a member of the Mindfulness Association and the International Positive Psychology Association.
Prior to launching her own learning and development company in 2004, Karen spent many years at senior level in the ICT sector.

Liz Hoskin CMgr FCMI

Liz Hoskin is on the Board of Trustees for the Chartered Management Institute as her passion is to promote Heart Centred Leadership with the many clients she works with. She is a Chartered Manager and a Fellow of CMI.

Liz Hoskin is the founder of Positive Qualities Ltd, a Business Insight Consultancy helping her many clients to work on their business.  It has been said that every company needs Liz Hoskin and her team as there is a noticeable change in the energy and results of the businesses once they have worked with Positive Qualities Ltd. Over the past seven years Liz has successfully developed the W.O.W. System ® which enables companies to achieve positive changes within their businesses. Resulting in a more positive and proactive culture..

Phil Jones is Managing Director of the UK arm of global technology manufacturer – Brother. Joining the business in 1994 as salesperson, he worked his way up the organisation to be appointed its head in 2013. Awarded an MBE for Services to Business, Phil is also a Companion of the CMI.

Alison McGregor

As CEO Scotland, Alison is the senior leader responsible for the HSBC Group in Scotland, with over 4000 employees across a range of businesses. In addition to responsibility for people, customers and shareholders she has primary responsibility for maintaining the Group’s relationship with key external stakeholders and senior leaders with an interest and responsibility for supporting the growth of our economy.
Alison is proud to be HSBC UK’s business sponsor for LGBT, Women on Boards and Women in Banking and Finance, is a member of HSBC UK’s Diversity and Inclusion Board. She is passionate about inclusion and the opportunities it presents.
Alison is a Board member of the Confederation of British Industries (CBI), the Scottish Apprenticeship Advisory Board and is a Non-Executive Director of The Beatson Cancer Charity. She held the position of Chair of CBI Scotland from September 2015 to September 2017.
Alison was named Scottish Corporate Leader of the Year 2017 at the Scottish Women’s Awards.

Neil has 32 years post apprenticeship experience in industry; with 30 years in the Oil and Gas Industry. Neil has undertaken various roles throughout his early career ranging from detailed design through to commissioning and operations.
A chartered manager and Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute
Neil is also ECITB Regional Chair Offshore Oil and Gas sector and an ECITB Board member.
