The Chartered Management Institute (CMI) extended a unique invitation to St Aidan’s Sixth Form students in March, offering free attendance to their conference at the Queen’s Hotel in Leeds to celebrate International Womens’ Day. Fortuitously the conference took place on a Training Day which gave 7 students the opportunity to listen to inspirational speakers and network with senior professionals from a range of sectors. Presentations included ‘Getting Women into Top Jobs’ ‘How to Strategise’ and ‘The Power of Connection’
Molly Adams, Lydia Ibanez-Lloyd and Kate Lonsdale wrote afterwards:
‘The conference was insightful, inspirational and empowering. It allowed us to establish useful connections and feel part of a wider movement for change. It was a completely new experience for us that fell outside of our comfort zones, however we are really grateful that we were given the opportunity to attend.’
One of the speakers and event organiser, Chris Baines said: "St Aidan’s got an honourable mention from the platform 4 or 5 times, so the girls were all obviously making a very favourable impression."
