Alumni Award for Paul Haley, Chartered Manager, from Tata Steel Internal Audit

Cardiff and Vale College recognises and celebrates the professional accomplishments and service contributions of its former students. CAVC Alumni reconnects former students with the College, providing opportunities for networking and to inspire current students. Alumni Award winners are people who have distinguished themselves in their careers and community.

Paul is a member of CAVC Alumni having completed a BEC OND in Business Studies at Barry College of Further Education in 1982.

Paul returned to Cardiff and Vale College in May 2018, International Internal Audit Awareness Month, to give a talk to Year 2 Level 3 Business course students, to highlight the wide range of careers that can be achieved in Internal Auditing.

Paul, a Chartered Manager, is now Internal Audit Manager UK at Tata Steel Europe. His career has included roles at ECGD, Managing Director of leisure & tourism business, Head of Internal Audit at the MoD’s Defence Aviation Repair Agency (DARA), and Director of specialist Internal Audit consultancy practice BHBi, as well as a number of Non Exec Director roles.

Paul continued his professional education over a number of years and is now a Chartered Internal Auditor, a Chartered Manager, holds a Masters in Audit Management & Consultancy, as well as a Certification in Risk Management Assurance, and a Qualification in Internal Audit Leadership.

Mark Roberts, CAVC’s Finance Director presented the Award and said, “Paul is an inspiring leader and demonstrates that the sky is the limit on what you can achieve upon leaving CAVC.”

Paul said, “College widened my aspirations & was the transition and defining point from school to life. All of my career path happened after leaving College, but happened because of College!”
