CMI Conference Chartering Success

07 November 2018

The annual regional Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and Institute of Management Consultants and Advisers (IMCA) conference ‘Chartering Success’ took place on 25th October at Belfast Harbour Commissioners with Roy Adair CBE, former CEO of Belfast Harbour Commissioners, being awarded for his outstanding contribution to the Northern Ireland economy.

Speaking after being presented with the award, Roy Adair said: “Management is central to the success of every business and every enterprise. The work the Chartered Management Institute delivers in ensuring the continued development of the next generation cannot be underestimated and must be celebrated.

He added: “Of course it’s both surprising and delightful to be recognised by such a leading institute.”

The ceremony was attended by 100 invited business leaders who were inspired by a keynote address delivered by Belfast entrepreneur Bill Wolsey, Managing Director of Beannchor Group.

Providing CMI Northern Ireland and its partner organisations with an opportunity to focus on the year ahead, the conference engaged delegates from the business community, education, public and voluntary sectors to forge and build collaborative relationships reinforcing a positive impact on the local economy and throughout Ireland.

Presenting Roy with his award, new Chair of CMI Northern Ireland, Gemma Jordan of Ulster Bank, said: “I would like to congratulate Roy on winning this year’s award. He is a worthy winner having been at the helm of Belfast Harbour Commissioners for more than 10 years. It gives me great pleasure in awarding him for the contribution he has made to economic development in Northern Ireland.

Backed by a unique Royal Charter, CMI is the only organisation able to award Chartered Manager status - the ultimate management accolade, which is proven to boost individuals’ career prospects, management capability and impact in the workplace.
