Welcome to the summer edition of the East Midlands newsletter. As with many other organisations that you are involved with, the CMI and the CMI Regional Boards are constantly developing and changing to meet new challenges and opportunities. This is reflected in the content of this newsletter. We have a number of changes in our Board membership. Firstly, we need to thank three colleagues, Sabrina Ihaddaden, Alison Cook and Manpreet Sooch who are leaving the Board to pursue new challenges and secondly, we are very pleased to welcome Andy Bullen as a new Board member. As we mark the significant contributions of Sabrina, Alison and Manpreet it strikes me that they are great examples of the different types of experience and skills that our Board members have, and which are being used to benefit CMI members in the East Midlands. We are always interested to hear from members who would like to get involved whatever their level of experience. We would particularly like to hear from members willing to work with our Communications Lead Amy Kendrick to assist with social media activity.
In the last newsletter I referred to the CMI’s intention to make substantial changes to the Regional structure. The working party has presented its first report and made recommendations to the Regional and Devolved Nations Committee (RDNAC) in May. There is general agreement that the main purpose of the regional structure going forward will be the support and development of the CMI members. The recommendations made are now being further developed ready for consideration by the joint meeting of the RDNAC and the CMI trustees in July. I hope to be able to provide much more detail about the new structure in the autumn newsletter.
Meanwhile, in other news, plans for the Midlands conference are well underway. This year the West Midlands Regional Board is taking the lead. The conference will be held on October 4th at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Birmingham. Please note the date and watch out for further communications about themes and presenters. I really hope to see many of you there. In the East Midlands we are working on the next in our Chartered Manager Events series which we plan to hold in Leicester on 20th September. Again, please watch out for further details.
I wish you a great summer and, if you are taking a break, that you enjoy whatever you have planned and that the sun shines.
