Student Ambassador secures CMI internship

Whilst we are sad to lose Manpreet Sooch from our Board, we are delighted that she has secured a CMI internship followed by a place on the PwC graduate scheme. We are also thrilled to congratulate Manpreet on graduating with a first in Business Management from Derby University!

We hope to feature Manpreet’s reflections on her experiences of transitioning from higher education to the workplace in a future edition of the newsletter.

Growth of HE in the region

The East Midlands CMI has a very successful and growing partnership with the 9 universities in its region which stretches from Lincoln to Derby to Northampton. The University of Nottingham is the latest organisation to come on board and is currently on a three-phase planned journey to become a fully-fledged CMI partner. The East Midlands CMI board looks forward to working with the management, lecturers and students at the University of Nottingham to establish a long and rewarding partnership and support the development of a Student Ambassador programme later on this year.

Jas Sandhu recently joined De Montfort University as a Business Development Manager. Formerly a Relationship Manager at the CMI, we know that Jas not only understands everything about the CMI, but will also support the East Midlands CMI to forge even stronger links with the university and help us to develop the CMI Student Ambassador scheme to challenge the top spot in the region!

Student Awards feature

The University of Derby is recognised as one of the leading CMI partner organisations and for having one of the most successful Student Ambassador schemes in the country. The recognition of Danielle Keeling as CMI Student Ambassador of the Year is not only testimony to success of the University, but also to a young lady who developed a 12-strong student ambassador board. Danielle is sadly missed by the East Midlands CMI board, but her legacy will live on at the University as she continues to grow and become a leader of the future. We wish Danielle every success in her new role at Ernst & Young and her continued work as a public speaker at CMI organised events.

Spotlight on new ambassadors

A new CMI Student Ambassador strategy document is currently under development. We look forward to explaining more about this in the future, but in the meantime, as one of the most successful CMI regions, the East Midlands board will continue to forge links with managers, lecturers and students to grow the CMI Student Ambassador scheme at the 9 local universities.
