National Apprenticeships Week

08 March 2019

ApprenticeshipsAlison Cox, CMI’s Head of Apprenticeships joined Nottingham Trent University to Fire It Up! during National Apprenticeship Week celebrations when the NTU Apprenticeships team came together with employers, apprenticeships and tutors to celebrate the outstanding achievements of those currently studying Degree Apprenticeships. Previously, Alison was invited to join the panel of judges who had the difficult task of selecting the winners from the many talented apprentices and during the ceremony she spoke about how Higher Apprenticeships are now playing a key role in recruiting talent and developing people within your organisations.

Derby City Council are running their ‘Blaze a Trail’ theme which aims to highlight the benefits of apprenticeships to employers, individuals, local communities and the economy.

As with previous years, the week has seen a range of activities and events being hosted across the city. Derby City Council’s Economic Growth service, HR team and Adult Learning Service have joined forces, along with Cabinet members and other Councillors to visit Derby schools, to deliver a variety of events throughout the week including; apprenticeship assemblies, talks, workshops and Q&A’s.

Alongside this, the Council’s Apprentice Forum, a support network for young apprentices, has visited schools to promote apprenticeships and provide insights into working as an apprentice at the Council.

For those who aren’t at schools, there was an apprenticeship stand within the Council House. Visitors were able to find information about apprenticeships, the opportunities within the Council and hear from Derby Council’s own apprentices.
