Dave Wolfenden

David's career began on British Rail as a Carriage and Wagon Examiner (Wheel-Tapper in old money).  After a number of promotions over 20-years, David became the Occupational Safety Manager for the Connex Rail operated franchises of South Eastern and South Central.

Leaving the railways David joined the waste industry and maintained a strong safety culture in one of the safest to work for companies in the waste sector.  David delivered policy upgrades, companywide training, and a number of safety initiatives.

David has spent time working in a social housing partnership.  Working in the military sector, David led the development of safety, health, environmental and fire (SHEF) management systems at the start-up of a 30-year PPP contract with the MoD, for the delivery of trade training to soldiers at the Royal School of Military Engineering.

Moving to the computer services sector David implemented a management system for EH&S, and continued with the development and maintenance of the system.  This included ensuring that the system was integrated with the parent company management systems, and fed into the Deutsche Telekom corporate social responsibility monitoring and reporting database.

Currently David is working for a large waste management and skip hire company as the Group H&S Manager.  David is integrating the management systems for safety, health, environment and quality (SHEQ) and implementing a management information system.

Being a Chartered Member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (CMIOSH), a Fellow of the Royal Society for Public Health (FRSPH), and a Member of the Chartered Management Institute (MCMI) David has acquired skills, experience and knowledge from his 35+ career years, and maintains these through continuous professional development.

David is married to Gillian; they have three grown boys (men), and are the proud grandparents of Georgia, Luke, William and Lily.
