Press release: Management 4.0: Managers Gather in Scotland to discuss the Impact of AI and Technology on the Future of Management and Leadership Wednesday 23 October 2019 CMI Annual Scotland Conference 2019 The Chartered Management Institute (CMI) is today hosting a conference for UK managers to discuss what impact the Fourth Industrial Revolution will have on the future of the workplace. The event will focus on the themes of CMI's major discussion piece - 'Management 4.0' - which include transformational technology, lifelong learning and reskilling. Opening the Annual Midlands Conference at the Edinburgh International Convention Centre this morning, CMI CEO Ann Francke said: “The more technologically able we become, the more human we become as leaders. We need to engage more, listen more, have higher emotional intelligence, be more inclusive, less confrontational, more purpose driven and transparent". CMI launched 'Management 4.0' - a national conversation about the future of the workplace and how this will affect the role of the manager - earlier this year. Working with a steering group of leading managers, academics and business people from across the country, the professional body will look at the impact of technology, demographic trends and shifting generational expectations, and what this will mean for the retraining and reskilling needs of the workforce in the future. Attendees will be asked to feed into the conversation; sharing their experiences and knowledge; both through practical workshops and interactive sessions. This invaluable evidence will help shape the final Management 4.0 report, practical toolkit and recommendations that will be published next year.
