An employer-funded route to Chartered recognition, built for real workplace impact

Qualification overview

The CMI Leading AI Readiness Programme is an accelerated pathway designed to support managers and operational leaders as they introduce AI into their departments. It helps them achieve Foundation Chartered Manager (fCMgr) status while delivering practical impact and a clear return on investment (ROI) for their organisations.

The programme focuses on aligning operational leadership with the strategic and cultural requirements of AI adoption. Practical masterclasses maintain flexibility and adaptability, allowing partners to tailor delivery to the needs of their learners. This supports employers in building the vital capability to implement AI initiatives within their organisations.

Mapped to the CMI Professional Standard, this programme equips junior managers with the core skills they need. It embeds behaviours that deliver practical workplace results. Foundation Chartered Manager (fCMgr) status is embedded from the start, offering a recognised benchmark of confidence and a clear route to Chartered Manager (CMgr) status.

Who it's for?

  • New or aspiring managers seeking a clear, accelerated route to Chartered status.
  • Junior managers developing their skills in leading AI readiness across their teams.

Qualification structure

This is a practical measure of professional competence. We have condensed high-value leadership themes into three core masterclasses, ensuring learning translates directly into organisational AI initiative progress.

Masterclass 1: Leading Change for AI Readiness

Aligns operational leadership with the strategic and cultural requirements of introducing AI-related change into a team.

Masterclass 2: Driving AI Excellence

Bridges theory and execution by mastering operational planning and using continuous improvement methodologies to optimise workflows for organisational change.

Masterclass 3: The AI Impact Project

Requires managers to deliver measurable ROI through a real-world project, using data and project management methodologies to solve an AI challenge or change.
  • Self Assessment Diagnostic

A bespoke diagnostic tool used at the start and end of the programme to assess initial capability, track progress, and clearly demonstrate the new skills gained.

  • Masterclasses

Complete three high-impact masterclasses which are specifically designed to bridge the gap between technical expertise and first line management.

  • AI Impact Project

Rather than relying on management theory alone, learners solve a live, AI-based challenge in the workplace to focus on delivering provable business impact.

  • Foundation Chartered Manager

Following a self-reflective professional discussion and recording of CPD, learners will achieve Foundation Chartered Manager (fCMgr) status, evidencing their commitment to inclusive management and offering a progression route to Chartered Manager CMgr) status.
