Classic accidental manager,” explains CMI’s Student of the Year 2023, Ellie Pickering. “I managed one person, then three, then the project got more complex and I started to feel a little uncomfortable. So when my boss asked if I would be interested in taking a management apprenticeship, I jumped at the chance. It’s been absolutely brilliant and it totally changed my mindset.” Ellie embarked on the Operations/Departmental Manager Level 5 Apprenticeship in 2020.
