Written by CMI Insights Wednesday 03 September 2025 Share Share to LinkedIn Share to Facebook Share via email With nominations for the CMI Awards of Excellence 2025 now open, we caught up with several of last year’s winners to find out what impact their success has had “In the past 12 months, I’ve received more invitations for speaking engagements than I could fit into my working calendar,” says Riwilo Masulani CMgr MCMI. Riwilo was crowned CMI’s Chartered Manager of the Year 2024 – and the past year has seen him more in demand than ever. So, with nominations for 2025’s CMI Awards now open, we wanted to catch up with several of last year’s winners to find out how their success has impacted them since. Here’s what they told us. I’m getting noticed “Judging from the increased enquiries from head-hunters asking whether I’m open for a new role, winning the award has raised my profile as a Chartered Manager whose strategic leadership and management skills are highly valued beyond my organisation,” adds Riwilo, who is permitting manager at the Coal Authority. Riwilo is quick to add that, while he has no intention of leaving his role anytime soon, he’s also enjoying being contacted for speaking opportunities at events. People want my opinion on training Dr Hiba Khan CMgr FCMI, our Apprentice of the Year 2024, is an NHS obstetrics and gynaecology doctor and chief revenue officer at healthcare training provider Medics Academy. She’s found that, since winning the CMI Award, people have sought her advice on postgraduate education and training, as well as Senior Leader Apprenticeships. “My award gave colleagues and peers a new appreciation for the value of combining front-line experience with formal leadership education,” Hiba explains. “It sparked conversations with professionals across sectors who were curious about CMI and the apprenticeship journey. And it’s been great to talk to many different people from the healthcare sector and encourage them to apply to develop their skill sets.” Our partners are impressed The University of Hertfordshire was awarded CMI’s HE Partner of the Year prize last year. Garry Goodwin, the centre’s apprenticeship lead, stresses how that win has strengthened its reputation for excellence in leadership and management education. “We’ve seen greater engagement with employers and industry partners who recognise the value of CMI accreditation and the quality it represents,” says Garry. “This enhances our credibility in building partnerships with the private sector, reinforcing our value as a forward-thinking, industry-connected university.” Winning a CMI Award brings national recognition, enhances your credibility with stakeholders and strengthens your relationship with CMI Garry adds that the recognition helps the university’s reputation as a centre that equips students to thrive in a dynamic and competitive job market. “As the only university in Hertfordshire, the recognition reinforced our role as a regional leader in developing future-ready graduates with strong leadership and management skills,” he says.
