Join CMI in 2022 and celebrate 75 years of Better Managers!

About the role:

Growing and enhancing CMI’s value with our existing key Priority Partners is a key growth area for CMI in line with our strategic objectives. We are looking to recruit an ambitious and proactive sales relationship manager who has a proven track record of driving strategic and commercial sales growth with HEIs across the UK (excl Scotland).

The role is fast paced, target driven and a classic mix of developing new business outside of Business Schools and growing sales through existing relations. We are inviting applications from individuals who are comfortable in managing an annual sales opportunity pipeline of circa £3-5 million (target in excess of £1.5m) by liaising with Vice Chancellors, PVC’s, Dean’s and Heads of Faculty by promoting dual accreditation, apprenticeships and or related management development solutions.

This is a field based role and we are flexible on location for the ideal candidate. Your CV should demonstrate strong experience and a successful track record in a sales or business development capacity by delivering revenue against targets. You may have experience with other leading professional bodies or membership organisations or have skills transferable for this role.

Responsibilities:

  • To work with the Head of Higher Education in the growth and account management of Key Priority Partnerships with responsibility to achieve and exceed the agreed HE sales targets within the UK
  • To drive sales through all channels (Dual Accreditation, Apprenticeships, Employability, Staff Development) and new products that will be developed by CMI such as the Employability Bootcamps
  • To deploy strategic planning across your Partner portfolio, enabling effective business development reporting to the Head of HE.
  • To maximise CMI’s position as market-leader in providing support for HE students’ employability skills and management and leadership capability within the UK through our value proposition
  • To deliver personal objectives in line with the wider aims and objectives of the department, directorate and CMI
  • To be a credible ambassador for CMI within the HE sector, role modelling CMI values and its professional code of conduct.

About you:

We are an inclusive employer and welcome all diverse backgrounds, where individuality is celebrated, creating both a forward-thinking team and a supportive space for everyone in the CMI family. We actively invite applications from diverse cultures and experience.

  • We are looking for someone who can enhance our culture and align with our core values. We want someone who is ‘Passionate’ in making a positive difference to the skills of managers and leaders, ‘Practical’; with the ability to make quick and smart decisions, ‘Progressive’ about creating a better future and maintaining a ‘Professional’ code of conduct, through being accountable and ethical in everything that we do.
  • An astute sales professional who has a proven track record of driving commercial growth
  • Is very knowledgeable of the Higher Education and Degree Apprenticeship market and understands how Universities operate (including purchasing cycle and staff and student engagement with a Professional Body)
  • Managed a sales opportunity pipeline consisting of short and long term sales cycles.
  • A strong communicator with impressive presentation skills, who has successfully developed new and expanded existing partner relationships
  • A strong sense of accountability, to both activity levels and revenue targets with a keen high respect for excellent client service
  • Strong collaboration skills, having the ability to build strong relationships and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders is essential
  • Knowledge of management and leadership development within the Higher Education sector is very desirable
  • Knowledge and use of a CRM, preferably Salesforce desirable
