CMI appoints Anthony Painter as new Director of Policy & External AffairsMonday 08 November 2021
The Chartered Management Institute (CMI) has appointed Anthony Painter as its new Director of Policy and External Affairs.
In his new role, which reports to Ann Francke, Chief Executive of CMI, Anthony will oversee CMI’s Policy & Public Affairs work; research and the development of thought leadership and CMI’s Press and PR function.
In his most recent position as Chief Research & Impact Officer at the Royal Society for the Arts, Manufactures and Commerce, Anthony led RSA’s social change remit, which included a focus on examining the future of work, education, lifelong learning and economic security. A published author and presenter, Anthony’s work on policy and social innovation was awarded a Think Tank of the Year Award by Prospect Magazine. Among other roles he was previously the Vice Chair of Governors of Hackney Community College. He holds degrees from the University of Cambridge and the London School of Economics.
Commenting on Anthony’s appointment Ann Francke said: “I am delighted to welcome Anthony as our new Policy and External Affairs Director. He brings with him a wealth of experience in policy development and has a broad and deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing businesses and management.
"I am in no doubt that he will be a great asset to CMI. He joins us at a particularly exciting time as we move into our 75th Anniversary year. As we rethink key management challenges and seek to define best practice for 21st century leaders, I am certain that Anthony’s skills and expertise will have a huge impact on CMI’s Policy and External Affairs work as we strive to turn accidental managers into conscious, inclusive leaders."
Anthony added, "Over the coming years, we have to manage our way through great transitions. To achieve Net Zero, integrate new technologies, and see a more inclusive economy, the work CMI does to support managers today and in the future, through its 75th year and way beyond, is essential. I am very much looking forward to joining a highly successful team at CMI in the new year and with them making a wider contribution to responding to the big issues of these times."
Anthony will take up his role at CMI in February 2022.
