FTSE 100 bosses going back to the futureTuesday 30 July 2019
- With only 6 women leading FTSE 100 companies, the UK boardroom is going back to the future. Progress on promoting women into senior leadership positions has stagnated.
The Chartered Management Institute has today added its voice to the growing calls for the Government to act to ensure more women are represented in the boardroom and to close the gender pay gap by supporting more women into senior management and leadership positions.
Rob Wall Head of Policy at the Chartered Management Institute said:
If the new Prime Minister is serious about making the UK economy competitive and attractive to the best talent, we need to accelerate work to build the pipeline of senior female talent and tackle those barriers that women still face in the workplace. As a first step, all large companies should be required to publish action plans setting out how they plan to close their gender pay gap and be held to account for their performance. Transparency is a necessary first step - but we also need accountability.
