The Award in Project management is designed to meet the needs of managers responsible for projects, who wish to extend their skills and knowledge to embrace further project management disciplines. It is expected that learners will already be working in a Project Management environment, although the qualification is also open to learners wishing to built on their general management skills.
The qualification is offered in the medium of the English Language. The qualification can be offered in Centres in languages other than English - Centres wishing to do this should refer to the relevant section of the CMI Centre Code of Practice for guidance.
This qualification can be offered to learners from age 19. CMI does not specify entry requirements for this qualification, but Centres are required to ensure that learners admitted to the programme have sufficient capability at the right level to undertake the learning and assessment.
The Level 3 Award in Project Management offers a highly flexible approach to learning.
To achieve a CMI Level 3 Award in Project Management, you need to successfully complete the one unit to a minimum of 6 credits.
The time it takes to complete a qualification is dependent on the units you choose and delivery times and methods do vary from one Approved Centre to another. However, as a guide:
Assessment is normally via practical work-based assignments provided by your Approved Centre. This ensures you minimise time away from work and that you undertake work study which is relevant to your own organisation’s context.
The qualification provides opportunities for progression for other qualifications at the same or higher levels, which could also be work-based or more academically structured. The qualification also supports learners in meeting the requirements for work and/or employment within all areas of management and leadership at this level.
