Routes to Chartered Status

You could be about to take your first step to join an exclusive community of exceptional managers.

Gaining Chartered Manager status involves completing a holistic assessment that is underpinned by the CMI Professional Standard for Management and Leadership. It provides you with a fantastic opportunity to reflect on your recent workplace achievements and how you effectively apply your management and leadership skills.

Did you know that achieving Chartered Manager can take as little as a few weeks?

Identify your route below and start your journey to become a Chartered Manager today.

At CMI we believe a great manager is defined by their commitment to continual learning and development, so you’ll need to showcase what you’ll be focussing your development activity on over the next 12 months and more importantly why you’ve chosen these areas.

We provide you with all of the assessment criteria from the get-go, so you can be clear of exactly what’s required to achieve your Chartered Manager status.. You’ll also receive a comprehensive range of support materials to help you showcase your very best achievements and talents in your application.

To help you get ready for your assessment, we highly recommend you complete our self assessment Management Diagnostic. It’ll help raise your self awareness and identify your strengths and areas for development, which you can then use as part of your application.

There is a fast-track and full assessment process dependent on your level of experience and qualifications. Even if you do not hold any formal management qualifications, don’t worry, CMI will support you to become a Chartered Manager through your experience alone.

Pathway to Chartered Manager

CMI currently offers three routes to achieving Chartered Status; depending on your mix of qualification and management experience. Find out more below.

If you are not sure which method of assessment is right for you, we have two ways to help you identify your route. Either contact us and we will be happy to confirm your options, or complete the ‘Route Identifier’  tool at the start of the registration process.
