Research:

Growing Your Small Business

Tuesday 15 September 2015

Developed in partnership with the Chartered ABS and the QAA, alongside the Small Business Charter (SBC) and The Supper Club, Growing Your Small Business report explores how business schools and professional bodies can successfully engage with and support the growth of small and medium enterprises - defined as having up to 250 employees.

In May and June 2015 CMI hosted 14 regional workshops across the UK for business owners to explore and learn how they can collaborate with business schools and professional institutions in order to improve their capabilities and achieve successful growth. Approximately 1,200 business owners, academics, professional institutions and representatives from the wider business support ecosystem attended these events. Following the discussions and new analysis of SME datasets by researchers at Aston University, the report has been developed to share the best practices identified.

Alongside the report, a new online heatmap has been published highlighting regional data on SME growth rates and management capability, alongside information on UK business schools, the Small Business Charter (SBC) and routes to Chartered Manager status.
