Whether you’re looking for a new role, are making a career change or just want to know what a recruiter is looking for, it is important to make sure you are always sharpening your employability skills.

The employment landscape is forever evolving, and it is important now more than ever that you equip yourself with the relevant skills for employment. Employability skills are the building blocks of your career and will allow you to gain a seat at the table. Regardless of whether this is your first job or you have 20 years of experience, employers are willing to teach you the job-specific (hard) skills required, but will expect you to have the necessary soft skills before hiring you.

Generally, employers will look for interpersonal skills, that you are reliable and dependable, and you have a willingness to learn and develop skills. Your education and experience may make you eligible to apply for a job but, to be successful in most roles, you will need skills that are based around productive personality traits.
