Join us for the 23rd CMI and IET Joint Annual Dinner. This year’s event focuses on the engineering and managerial challenges behind Bloodhound, the 1000mph record attempt car.
Our speaker is Chris Goddard BSc (Hons) CEng MIET, Collision Investigator and Ambassador to Bloodhound at Collision Science.
The Bloodhound SSC is the combination of many years work to produce a jet and rocket powered car, specifically designed to exceed 1,000 mph (just over 1,600 km/hr or the equivalent of traveling from Bath to Bristol in under thirty seconds.)
The project tested the engineering and management skills of all those involved and as it nears fruition. The project stands as a testament to the vision, dedication and tenacity of all those involved, and the shear will to push the boundaries to the limit. It all started 10 years ago with a public launch on 28th October 2008 at the Science Museum in London at which Richard Noble and his team announced to the world his plan to smash the World Land Speed Record, and at the same time inspire the next generation of Engineers and Managers with a truly iconic project.
The story is still unfolding. It will not finish until the Bloodhound SSC achieves the Land Speed Record of 1,000 mph and in doing so, Richard Noble and his team will undoubtingly have created a legacy that will inspire future generations of Engineers and Managers to push the current limitations and achieve the unimaginable.
