There isn’t a single “template” for a good manager, says Isabel Berwick, work and careers editor at The Financial Times.

The landscape of work is harder than ever to navigate – with a new, post-pandemic generation now entering the workplace with seemingly different priorities than those who came before. Questions around hybrid working remain, while AI tools are being integrated everywhere.

In this context, Isabel says, there are five key principles that managers need to get right so they and their teams can thrive.
