Written by CMI Insights Wednesday 04 September 2024 Share Share to LinkedIn Share to Facebook Share via email As the Management Publication of the Year 2024 longlist is announced, we take a look at the insight and ideas you should be absorbing this year… Great news for the bookworms, deep thinkers and the curious among you: the longlist for Management Publication of the Year 2024 has now been published. This new national prize is a collaboration between CMI, the British Academy of Management and the Chartered Association of Business Schools. It celebrates impactful works, cutting-edge research and innovative thinking – from books and blogs to podcasts – that address the critical business and economic challenges of our time. The 19 publications on the longlist are impressively varied. A panel of experienced practitioners and academic experts picked these submissions for their originality, relevance and rigour, as well as their potential positive influence on business, policy and the third sector. The material before the judges covered a wealth of thought-provoking topics – from men as allies for gender equality to the potential of AI in healthcare and the power of consumer collectives. A broader audience The awards are divided into three broad categories: Sustainable Futures, SME Growth, and Social Enterprise and Innovation. Professor Katy Mason is president of the British Academy of Management and sits on the judging panel. She describes Management Publication of the Year 2024 as “a great opportunity to celebrate and promote academic research that generates new ideas and ways of doing things, which is grounded in empirical evidence and expert knowledge”. She adds: “Business and management research is increasingly being picked up and used by industry leaders, SMEs, entrepreneurs, public sector leaders and policymakers, as leaders seek to shift the way we organise our economy, society, and everyday life in ways that are much more inclusive and sustainable. “The Management Publication of the Year Award represents an excellent opportunity to celebrate and platform some of this important work, and by including multimedia formats, we are not only opening up academic work to much broader audiences, but we are also showcasing different models of collaboration between industry, the public sector, and business and management researchers.” The shortlist will be announced at the Chartered Association of Business Schools Annual Conference on 4 November, while the winners will be revealed in early 2025 at an exclusive ceremony at the British Library.
