About the role:

We have an exciting time ahead at CMI, and we’re looking for a forward-thinking, innovative HR Manager to support us through it. You will play a key role in working with the Head of HR and existing team to review all our current ways of working, manage the employee life-cycle, and deliver improvements where needed. CMI is a great place to work, and with your help, we can make it even better!

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver the end to end life cycle of an employee, from hire to retire
  • Contribute towards the people strategy and support the delivery of projects to promote continuous improvement
  • Review current HR processes and map vs best practice
  • Manage the updates, refreshing all current HR policies and guidance – drafting and proposing new ways of working where applicable
  • Ensure colleagues get paid accurately and on time by reviewing payroll
  • Set up and run health and safety committees, focus groups, engagement pilots etc.
  • Drive employee engagement, employee experience and employee recognition
  • Support and review improvement plans for Investors in People, Best Companies and engage with Senior Leadership Team and Line Managers as needed
  • Support the HR and Facilities team on initiatives and their objectives to drive the team forward
  • Always looking for continuous improvement and ways to enhance our partnerships with the organisation and teams
  • Shape the HR Manager job role as the function is going through change
  • Supporting CMI vision, mission and living the company values and behaviours

  • You will be confident with processes and ways of working that form the employee life cycle – from hire to retire and everything in between!
  • Previous line management experience is essential
  • An understanding of H&S and Payroll would serve you well
  • Familiarity with HR specialisms such as L & D, Recruitment, Rewards etc.
  • Happy to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in – it’s a busy team!
  • Comfortable with PDR (Plan, Do, Review) and RACI (Responsible, Accountable, Consult, Inform) approach
  • Experience of project management would be beneficial
  • Happy to be adaptable and juggling several priorities at the same time
  • Forward thinking to approach processes and ways of working differently
