Press release:

CMI reaction to The Queen’s Speech

Monday 14 October 2019

Ann Francke the CEO of The Chartered Management Institute reacting to The Queen’s Speech said:

There is much in The Queen’s Speech that businesses will welcome, but with a no-deal Brexit on the horizon and a General Election just around the corner the focus of Government must be securing a deal. Without this, any promised investment in the economy and in public services will be near impossible to deliver.

On Ensuring Fairness at Work

We welcome the commitment to creating fairness and flexibility in the labour market. At CMI, we know that the quality of management determines the quality of work. Improving line management skills is key to modernising the workplace and boosting productivity.

On Improving Education

Preparing young people for the world of work is core to CMI’s mission. The commitment to improving technical education and equipping young people and adults with the skills to succeed should be at the heart of every Government’s legislative programme. Employers tell us that these skills need to include; leadership, management and enterprise skills.
