New Prime Minister announcement

Ann Francke CEO of The Chartered Management Institute said:

The Chartered Management Institute congratulates Boris Johnson on becoming the new Conservative Party leader and our next Prime Minister. As Prime Minister, Boris Johnson should set out a positive, compelling vision for the UK outside of the EU and set out a plan for how this vision will be delivered. As previous events have shown, our new Prime Minister must be prepared to build consensus, collaborate and compromise if we are to leave the EU with a good deal. A no deal Brexit would be catastrophic for business."

We also need a plan beyond Brexit, with radical domestic policies which tackle the root causes of the Leave vote. Our research shows that we need policies that provide young people with the skills to get a good job and which help adults retrain and reskill so that they can find better employment. This is what CMI does. We have a 132,000 strong membership community and work with over 130 universities and 500 education providers to boost employability and skills and improve management performance and productivity. We look forward to working with the next Prime Minister to super-charge our skills system and build a modern and inclusive economy.
