Good role models inspire us, give us new ideas and show us that things can be different. However, CMI’s latest white paper: Women in Management: The Power of Role Models suggests that women are falling short in the role model stakes with 55% saying there aren’t enough role models to choose from.

Shape the next generation of female leaders
As a result of the report, CMI are inviting all members to ‘inspire the future’ through mentoring or sponsorship talented women through the Inspiring the Future scheme. This initiative is aiming to get 15,000 inspirational women from Apprentices to CEOs signed up and talking to 250,000 girls by the end of 2014.
What’s involved?
Inspiring the Future is a free service where volunteers pledge just one hour a year to go into state schools and colleges to talk about their job, career, and the education route they took to help young people understand the working world.
How it works
Volunteers and schools are connected securely online, and you’ll receive invites from local schools and colleges to see if you can attend events during the academic year. It’s a great way to give back and there’s no extensive form-filling involved. To sign up as a CMI member simply click here and follow the steps in the ‘register now’ area. When completing your profile, in the ‘My Personal Details’ section in the ‘Campaign Name Box’ please write CMI. From early to mid-May you will be able to acknowledge your membership of professional bodies from an easy to use drop down list.
