Rules and Regulations

Entry Process

The competition opens on Friday 12th April 2024. The closing date for submitting entries will be Friday 5th July 2024. No further entries will be accepted after this date.

Entries must be submitted using the online forms available from the individual award pages, where you will also find the criteria. Please ensure that you complete all sections of the form. Entries that are incomplete or exceed the stated word limit will not be accepted.

Entries will be automatically bound by the competition rules.

The competition organisers reserve the right to exclude an entry altogether for any legal purpose at their discretion. Nominees, and their nominating CMI Partner, if applicable, will be notified if an entry is excluded in this way.

CMI reserves the right to remove any category from the competition at its own discretion.

Once submitted, the entry cannot be withdrawn unless CMI agrees to do so.

All completed entries will be acknowledged online at the time of submission.

The organisers do not accept any responsibility for the loss or damage of any entry.

The judges’ decision is final, and no correspondence or discussion will be entered into or feedback given regarding the selection of shortlisted nominations or winners unless under CMI discretion.

CMI reserves the right to extend the closing deadline, amend categories, change any of the dates or not award categories, and to cancel the Awards ceremony or change the venue at any time and without liability to any party.

All entrants are responsible for any and all costs incurred in preparing their entry and submitting it for consideration.

No supporting material for submissions.

Anyone completing an entry will be deemed to have the authority to do so on behalf of any employer or other third party mentioned in the entry. CMI will not be held liable for any claim or loss arising from this or any other breach of these terms & conditions.

Submissions must not include hyperlinks to websites or external documents.

 

Exclusions

The Chartered Management Institute, its affiliates, subsidiaries and their respective employees, officers, directors, agents, consultants, contractors and their family members are not eligible to participate and will be disqualified.

For the Volunteer of the Year Award, members of CMI operational committees are not eligible to participate. (CMI’s operational committees include Remuneration Committee; Finance & Audit Committee; Regulation Compliance Committee; Complaints & Investigations Committee; Nominations Committee.)

Judges cannot enter nominations into the competition and judges should not judge entries by colleagues from their own institution or organisation.

CMI’s decisions on all matters concerning the competition, including the acceptance of entries, the nomination of winners and any other matters, will be final and binding. No correspondence or discussion will be entered into.

Terms

By submitting this form, you grant CMI a licence for the right to use any submitted material (“Submitted Material”) for any business-related purpose, including without limitation, inclusion in press releases, marketing and promotional materials, videos, and case studies.

The licence you hereby grant to CMI to use or refer to the Submitted Material is subject to the following terms:

  1. Permission to reference the Submitted Material identified above is granted to CMI royalty free, is irrevocable, and granted in perpetuity.
  2. Permitted use of the Submitted Material, with rights to use, reproduce, modify, edit, publish, translate, create derivative works including by the use of artificial intelligent applications such as chatGPT, distribute, perform and display such material (in whole or part) worldwide and/or to incorporate it in other works in any form, media, or technology now known or later developed.
  3. There is no fee for the granted permission.
  4. This permission is non-exclusive.
  5. The applicant affirms that he or she owns all rights to the Submitted Material or that he or she has obtained all necessary permissions for the grant of this licence for CMI to use the Submitted Material and is authorised to transfer the use rights set forth above to CMI.

Liability

Whilst CMI shall use reasonable endeavours to fulfil our obligations to run the Awards and the Awards ceremony, we disclaim all liability to any person for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential or exemplary damages, including but not limited to any claims, actions or demands arising out of, or in connection with the Awards, including (but not limited to) the nomination process and the Awards ceremony, to the fullest extent permissible by law. This provision does not reduce or restrict CMI’s liability for death or personal injury caused by CMI’s negligence or liability for fraud on the part of CMI.

Law & Jurisdiction

Your use of this website, these terms and any matters arising are subject to the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England.

 

Data & GDPR

Data received from those expressing their interest to enter or to make a nomination will be used by CMI and by Think (which is administering the Awards) for the following purposes:

  1. to process and manage the entry
  2. to administer the competition
  3. for sending direct communications relating to the award and entry process.

By making a submission, each applicant grants CMI permission to use their name and likeness (including photographs) for the purpose of organising and/or managing the awards, for announcing the winner of the award and for related award purposes, and to CMI sharing these details with Think.

In addition, by making a submission, each entrant / Training Provider / HE Partner / nominating CMI Partner grants, and confirms that the relevant individual has agreed to grant to CMI:

  1. permission to use their name and likeness for the purpose of organising and/or managing the awards, for announcing the winner of the award and for related award purposes;
  2. the right to publish the winning entry themselves (including, but not limited to, photos, videos and text).

Information provided within the submission may be used by CMI for the purpose of the judging or promotion of the Awards. There will be no restrictions on the use of the submitted information in any promotion of the Awards. All submissions become the property of CMI and are not returned to applicants. Applicants consent to having submissions used for CMI promotional purposes for a period of two years starting from the date of the Awards.
