Modern Apprenticeship in Management Level 5 Scotland

The Modern Apprenticeship in Management Level 5 is aimed at addressing managerial gaps and skills shortages for Scottish employers. It has been developed to support those working as middle managers.

Management and Leadership skills have a major impact on the development, productivity and performance of organisations of all sizes and across all sectors of the economy. The Modern Apprenticeship in Management Level 5 is designed to provide flexible and portable qualifications, units and skills sets which meet the current and future needs of employers.

The Modern Apprenticeship in Management Level 5 consists of three elements, all of which learners must complete in order to achieve the apprenticeship.

Competency based qualification

• CMI SVQ 5 in Management at SCQF Level 11 (Code 5SVQ) Code GC6T 24

Core Skills

• Communication at SCQF Level 6
• Working with others at SCQF Level 6
• Problem solving at SCQF Level 6
• Information and communication technology at SCQF Level 5*
• Numeracy at SCQF Level 6*

*ICT is required to be separately certificated

Additional S/NVQ units/qualifications/training

ONE mandatory enhancement must be achieved

This is either:

• One unit from an SVQ at Level 4 or above relevant to the apprentice's job role

or

• One additional unit from the Management SVQ at Level 5

The Modern Apprenticeship in Management Level 5 is managed by the CfA Business Skills @ Work. CfA will register all Scottish Modern Apprentices undertaking this framework. All Modern Apprentices must be registered with CfA within 8 weeks of starting the apprenticeship. www.cfa.uk.com

Learners must also be registered with CMI for the SVQ5 in Management at SCQF Level 11 via the HUB

Upon completion of the Modern Apprenticeship in Management Level 5, apprentices may wish to pursue the following routes:

Career opportunities for management apprentices vary, with job titles alternating from sector to sector. Upon completion of the Modern Apprenticeship in Management Level 5, learners should be able to achieve positions such as:

• Director
• General Manager
• Executive Manager
