Joined CMI as an Associate Member in 2002 having been awarded an BTEC certificate in Business studies with six distinctions. Upgraded to Full Membership in 2003 / 2005 having been awarded a Post Graduate Degree in Management Studies by Buckinghamshire Chiltern University College.
Became a member of the Oxford Branch Committee in 2015 and appointed Treasurer.
In 2010 appointed as Treasurer to the South Eastern Region Committee and appointed to a Fellowship of the Institute during this time.
After the elections, appointed a Member of the Board of the Thames Valley Regional Board and again appointed Treasurer. A position that to which I am still appointed, but will have to resign in October 2019 as the six-year period as a member of a CMI Board will have been finished.
During my years serving CMI I have organised events for members, helped with recruitment and retention in any way possible, run the accounts for Branch and Regions to the best of my ability.
Attended conferences and debates and networking meetings organised by CMI and enjoyed a lot of fun.
Always serving in Industry in various capacities, starting as an Office Boy in a Large Drawing Office. Serving a five-year Indentured Apprenticeship as a Technical Engineer and appointed to a position in the Drawing Office of GPS Ltd. A company that manufactured Flight Simulators.
After ten years with GPS Ltd. And under the threat of closure of the company, I moved to the Motor Industry working in the Design Office of Chrysler UK Ltd for ten years, on the design of Commercial Vehicles during the integration into the Common Market.
I resigned to work Sub-contract.
My management career began during my service with GPS Ltd. In addition to holding my position in the drawing office, I held the position of Secretary to the Social Club, organising events, holding the Licence for the Bar and the licence for Dancing and Singing with all that this entailed.
I then turned to working Sub-contract Designing, Project Management, Planning, Senior Technical Management and as a Senior Technical Engineer working with Consultants. Also, as an Independent Director of several concerns.
Although retired I still run a Freelance Technical Service and am employed as a Test Engineer testing Superconducting Magnets for Siemens Magnet Technology.
Currently I am engaged in studies of AI, Quantum computers, Robotics, Lean manufacture, Manufacture by printing, and future studies of an engineering nature that apply to all aspects of life and work, in or out of the Common Market.
