What is the Gender Pay Gap? Some definitions

The pay gap is not the same as pay equality:

  • Pay gap: the percentage difference between median average hourly earnings for all men and all women, excluding overtime (whether in a company, country, sector, etc).
  • Equal pay: the pay difference between workers in roles that are substantially equal.
